TUMBLING

Students who do not want the full gymnastic class can use this tumbling class to focus on the floor exercise and flipping. Classes are broken out into levels based on skill: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Also, within each class level, skills are subdivided into additional, more specific levels. Students progression is tracked on their individual Progression Form and their NGA Progression Poster. Trampolines, foam pits and spotting apparatus are used as training aids, and all instruction is progressive for safety. Tumbling classes are one hour each at all levels.

GYMSTARS

The GymStar program at Nittany is our progressive instruction of skills on all Olympic events for girls and boys. Students participate in a structured warm-up session at the start of each class to build strength, flexibility and a solid foundation. Weekly event rotations give students the chance to practice and learn skills on each event in a regular, systematic fashion.

Our Girls curriculum is divided into four Levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum, and within each class level, skills are subdivided into levels. Students progression is tracked on their individual Progression Form and their NGA Progression Poster. Girls Bronze and Silver leveled classes are 75 minutes and Gold and Platinum are 90 minutes per class.

Our Boys curriculum is divided into three Levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold, and within each class level, skills are subdivided into additional more specific levels. Students progression is tracked on their individual Progression Form and their NGA Progression Poster. Boys Bronze and Silver classes are 75 minutes and Gold are 90 minutes per class.

Students are given a Progression Poster when they join Nittany so that they can also track their progress. Each time a student passes a level, they will receive a sticker, which they will place on their poster showing that they completed that level.

Classes normally progress at a consistent rate. However, should a student’s progress fall outside the “norm” of the class, an Instructor may recommend a class change to more effectively challenge the student.
Girls Events are: Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam, Floor Exercise, Trampoline, Pit
